About Emotional Freedom Technique in Swansea
Emotional
Freedom Technique (EFT) is one of the main modern energy therapies
that comes under the umbrella of energy psychology or meridian
therapies. It has its roots in 5000 year old Chinese acupuncture
and is often referred to as emotional acupuncture using gentle
tapping with the fingers rather than needles to stimulate the
meridian or energy points. EFT can very gently release long standing
and deeply rooted negative emotions enabling healing from
virtually any physical or emotional problems very speedily. It is very easy to learn, simple to use,
is non-invasive, painless, swift in action and has no known side
effects. Success rates using EFT are high and it can be combined
extremely well with hypnotherapy.
It often works where nothing else will.
It
was preceded in the early 1980s by Thought Field Therapy (TFT) which
was developed by Roger Callahan after he unexpectedly found a way of
freeing a lady called Mary from her long-standing phobia of water.
When she mentioned feeling the anxiety about water in her stomach
area he asked her to tap just below her eye which is the beginning of
the stomach meridian or energy channel. Her phobia vanished
instantly and the development and use of modern energy therapies begun.
In
the 1990s Gary Craig simplified the tapping procedure of TFT to
develop EFT. EFT is based on the theory that the cause
of all negative emotions is a disruption or imbalance in the body's
energy system. When the
energy system is out of balance unwanted emotional and physical
symptoms are experienced. It can be used to gain freedom from just about
anything from fears and phobias, stress, addictions, unwanted
emotional issues and trauma or even finding lost objects.
To
rebalance the energy system and let go of unwanted emotions or
symptoms and restore emotional and physical wellbeing EFT combines gentle tapping on the meridian points mainly
around the face and on the hand with verbalising the unwanted
feelings or reactions e.g. “Even though I have this
issue/emotion/physical symptom" and then saying a few words of
positive self-acceptance such as “I deeply and completely love
and accept myself” or “I'm OK” or “I choose to feel calm and
relaxed”. These positive affirmations of self acceptance help to
let go of inner conflict which can further disrupt the energy flow.
As it's so very easy to learn you will be able to use EFT for
self-treatment after your first session enabling you to feel empowered
and able to take control of your life should any unwanted day-to-day
challenges occur. It can be used regularly as a self-help tool
anywhere or anytime and is indeed a gift for life.
